Energy, ENERGY, ENERGY! If you’ve met Jodi Griffor, you’ve witnessed his boundless energy and positiveness! Jodi found us in 2016 and began volunteering for MSHL with complete and total commitment. He is the most giving and selfless person you could ever meet. So much so, that he was made a permanent staff member in 2018 and he continues to support MSHL with our Senior Nutrition Program and building maintenance needs. Jodi has a multitude of talents and skills, and the gears are always turning as he is finding creative and innovative ways to make our center a better place. Alan Lown
Director of Transportation Services
Meet Alan Lown, our Director of Transportation. If you’ve seen our white transit van around town, it could be Alan behind the wheel transporting our clients with care, compassion, and punctuality as he delivers each rider to their destination. With over 30 years in printing and book manufacturing, Alan made the transition from book to bus in 2017. He drove the school bus for Ann Arbor Public Schools and then for Milan Public Schools before he landed here at Milan Seniors for Healthy Living. Aside from scheduling, transporting and vehicle maintenance, Alan is a positive, hard-working support to MSHL staff. A Milanite for 25 years, Alan remains in Milan with a loving wife and two adult sons.

Maxine Tewsley
Director of Programming
Maxine’s passion has always been people. After obtaining a B.A. in Advocacy and Social Change at Loyola University Chicago, Maxine returned home to Milan and joined the MSHL team. Maxine believes wellness comes in many forms: whether it be enjoying a good meal with good company, playing a card game with friends, or exercising to start the day. Maxine is grateful to serve as the Director of Programming for MSHL in the community which she loves dearly.
Outside of MSHL, you can find Maxine teaching dance, reading on her porch, or watching her favorite show. Maxine also serves on The Cameron Boyce Foundation Community Advisory Board; a group of young people working to make life easier for folks living with epilepsy.
Sherrie Schwartz
Kitchen Production
Financial Consultant
Amy has spent 29 years in medical and dental practice management, with her primary focus on finances. In addition, she stays busy doing bookkeeping for other companies, primarily non-profit organizations.
When not busy with her teenager’s activities, Amy enjoys volunteering. In the past she has been on the board of education in Milan, is a founding member of ARC Milan, and was on the board of directors for Homeschoolers of Ann Arbor.
Born and raised in Milan, I left as a young adult but found my way home once I had kids of my own. I love our community. I was the Board President of Aid in Milan for 4 years (2018-2021). I have a passion for helping our community thrive. I have a 20yr old daughter in the Army, stationed in S. Korea and a soon to be 10yr old son at Symons Elementary School. I am also a local Realtor. When I am not working you can find me at a kids sport, riding my motorcycle or working in my yard.
MSHL’s Board of Directors are a dedicated group of volunteers diligently providing the governance and leadership to steer our organization. They are guardians of our mission, ensure compliance with legal and financial requirements, and enforce our ethical guidelines.
Chair
July 2021 – June 2024
We moved to Milan in 1975 and have lived in the Milan and Saline area since. I’m a retired Human Resources professional who worked primarily at Ford Motor Company during my career. In that capacity, I held various management positions at plant, divisional staff and corporate locations, including an international service assignment in Canada.
We have very much enjoyed living in Milan and the surrounding area. Sue, my wife, was a teacher in Milan schools for 35 years, and our children attended Milan schools from elementary through graduation. I cherish the friendships that we have formed with people in the community. Many of those were made originally as a member of the Milan Jaycees as we worked on various community projects. In the Jaycees, I held a number of offices including a term as president of Chapter. We have also been active in Peoples Presbyterian Church since arriving in Milan. As an Elder, I’ve chaired the Personnel and Stewardship Committees and enjoy working on mission projects through the church.
