Our Leadership

MSHL’s Board of Directors are a dedicated group of volunteers diligently providing the governance and leadership to steer our organization. They are guardians of our mission, endure compliance with legal and financial requirements, and enforce our ethical guidelines.

Steve Barney

Vice Chair

July 2021 – June 2024

We moved to Milan in 1975 and have lived in the Milan and Saline area since. I’m a retired Human Resources professional who worked primarily at Ford Motor Company during my career. In that capacity, I held various management positions at plant, divisional staff and corporate locations, including an international service assignment in Canada.
We have very much enjoyed living in Milan and the surrounding area. Sue, my wife, was a teacher in Milan schools for 35 years, and our children attended Milan schools from elementary through graduation. I cherish the friendships that we have formed with people in the community. Many of those were made originally as a member of the Milan Jaycees as we worked on various community projects. In the Jaycees, I held a number of offices including a term as president of Chapter. We have also been active in Peoples Presbyterian Church since arriving in Milan. As an Elder, I’ve chaired the Personnel and Stewardship Committees and enjoy working on mission projects through the church.

Ron Hasselbring

Treasurer

July 2016 – June 2022

My wife, Jan, and I have lived at our current Milan address since July 1972. We have raised two children, Cindy and Blake, who have gone through the Milan School system. We have two granddaughters. I graduated from Michigan State University with a B.A. in Accounting and the University of Michigan with an M.B.A. in Finance. I have had several jobs over a 50 year period, nearly all as an accountant. My last job was for the Great Lakes Commission in Ann Arbor as their financial person. I am active in my church where I currently serve as Missionary Treasurer. Also, I do some volunteer work at Aid in Milan as well as serve on the Board of Milan Seniors for Healthy Living. The most fun thing is delivering Meals on Wheels, which I currently do 5 days a week.

Sallie Bancroft

Director

Jan 2010 – June 2023

I was born and raised in Milan and graduated from Milan High School in 1959. Right out of high school, I began 6.5 years of working for Michigan Bell Telephone Co. in Ann Arbor – a job I really loved. I was married to my husband Dick in 1962 and was fortunate enough to be able to stay home to raise our two kids until school age. While holding several part-time jobs (including as a clerk for the City of Milan), I have always loved volunteering, and will continue to do so, as long as I am useful. Some of the other organizations I have been involved in were the Milan Jaycee Aux, Girl Scouts, City of Milan TIFA Board, Election Inspector, Beautification Commission, Milan Chamber of Commerce, Milan Area Historical Society, and of course, Milan Seniors for Healthy Living. However, my most favorite job for the past 18 years, has been to be active in my four grandkids lives!

I was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. When I was two years old my dad joined the military for better opportunities. My school years were very disconnected because of moving in and out of various school districts. There was no real continuity. What I learned in one school, was often repeated at the next school; so many areas of learning were missing. Thankfully, God gave me a great curiosity and I learned many things on my own by being an avid reader and self-motivated. I was an only child, so I had to be creative and resourceful. My parents and I traveled across the US and parts of Europe. In 1962 I met and married a military man. We spent 30 years in the military traveling across the US and around the world while raising our family. I was a stay-at-home mom, with an entrepreneurial spirit, so I was always dabbling in some sort of marketing venture. We have six children. I have seven. All are adults. We have 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. I gained education in various business fields including financial services where I was licensed as a Registered Securities Representative, carrying series 6 & 63 licenses. I am also licensed in Life and Health Insurance. In 2009 I enrolled in Global School of Ministry, through Cornerstone Church in Maumee, Ohio and spent five years in study. My majors were Kingdom Finance, Counseling and Deliverance. Currently I am in training for certification in, Heart Healing Prayer Ministry where I expect to pursue a ministry in Prayer Counseling and Heart Healing of traumatic events.
