Shelly B.
Volunteer

‘It’s been a privilege to be a volunteer with MSHL’s new Oasis program with Mandy R. and Peter W. They don’t just make the time simulating for the participants, it’s been for me, too. Mandy finds things to do that are interesting and fun. With a warm, positive attitude, they both keep a lively conversation going with respect and patience with the people that come. (And they also haven’t complained about my show and tell trinkets that i brought with me!) ‘

Lisa W.
Caregiver

‘A little over a month ago we started at the Milan Oasis. Mandy and her staff are wonderful with my loved one with dementia. They are trained to meet his needs & support him where he is functioning. The program provides for developing much needed social connections and stimulation that he can not receive at home. As his main caregiver, having a safe place that he can go to reduces my caregiver stress and isolation. I especially love that the staff is flexible, kind, patient, & communicate well with us. My loved one’s mood has improved and he shares all about his day afterwards. He especially loves the music & is excited to go each week. We have attended other day programs and the Oasis far surpasses them in the care that we have received. Did I mention the program is free? What a gift.’

Janine S.
Caregiver of Oasis Participant

‘We are so fortunate to have found Milan Oasis. As the caregiver for my wife it has allowed me to do some much needed self care. They have also connected me with some caregiver support. More importantly my wife is getting activities and socialization. Including all the programs and services available at MSHL Everyone has been kind and compassionate. I am comfortable leaving her there.’
